These degrees represent three to four years of intense studies beyond the high school « baccalauréat ». In the LMD system, four years are required. A « licence » is then equivalent to an american Bachelor’s Degree.

Maitrise
Maitrise Professionnelle (MPST)
Ingénieur des travaux

These degrees represent four to five years of intense studies beyond the high school « baccalauréat ». In the LMD system, five years are required. A « licence » is then equivalent to an american Maitrise’s Degree.

A doctorate is awarded to post-graduate student who have completed the equivalent of three full time years of research beyond the master’s level. This research leads to the presentation and defense of a doctoral thesis in front of a committee of 2-4 professors.
